Institute of Meat Hygiene and Technology accredited for certification of products in organic production in accordance with SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2016

The Institute of Meat Hygiene and Technology has been accredited for product certification in organic production in accordance with the SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2016 standard.

In its 2004 Action Plan for the future of organic production in the European Union, the European Commission defined organic production as a holistic farm and food production management system that combines best environmental practices, a high level of biodiversity, the preservation of natural resources, and the application of high animal welfare standards, as well as production methods aligned with consumers’ desire to purchase products made from natural ingredients and obtained through natural processes.

With the aim of continuously monitoring new standards and meeting client requirements in the field of organic production, as well as expanding its range of services, the Institute of Meat Hygiene and Technology has been granted accreditation for conformity assessment within the Scope of Accreditation by the Accreditation Body of Serbia, in accordance with the SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2016 standard. This standard covers the certification of the following products from organic production:

  • Organic crop and plant production, organic seed, seedlings, and planting material;

  • Organic livestock production, organic livestock products, and processing of organic products;

  • Processing of organic products: organic food and organic feed, in accordance with the Law on Organic Production (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” Nos. 30/10 and 17/19) and the Rulebook on Control and Certification in Organic Production and Organic Production Methods (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” Nos. 95/20 and 24/21).
