The Institute of Meat Hygiene and Technology is a research and development institute that organizes and conducts interdisciplinary scientific research in the field of biotechnical sciences, within the disciplines of agriculture and veterinary medicine (food safety: hygiene and technology of foods of animal origin, microbiology of foods of animal origin, meat hygiene and technology, milk hygiene and technology), food engineering (technology of animal products: meat technology, technology of by-products in the meat industry, technology of milk and dairy products, ready-to-eat food technology, functional food technology, physical properties of products of animal origin, technological microbiology, food quality and safety, chemistry of products of animal origin; animal feed technology: quality and safety of animal feed; plant product technology: chemistry of plant products, quality and safety of animal feed), and biotechnology.
The results of the Institute’s research are applied in industry, in cooperation with producers from the meat and food industries, both in the Republic of Serbia and internationally.
We collaborate with leading universities and research institutes and actively participate in national and international projects and innovation programs.
Our work includes developing new technologies and products, improving food safety and quality, increasing the efficient use of raw materials and energy, and transferring knowledge to industry. Through scientific publications, the International Meat Industry Conference, and the Council of Technologists, we connect science and industry, strengthening the food sector’s capacity and contributing to socio-economic development and environmental protection.
With highly qualified experts and modern infrastructure, the Institute is a key scientific research organization in the region, recognized for innovation and quality in the field of food safety.
