Immuno-Enyzme Aanalyses/Assays
Within the department for testing of residues, immuno-enzyme methods represent a group triad “screening” methods. The ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) technique is reliable, but faster, and cheaper compared to conventional instrumental methods. Enzyme linked immunosorbent commercial tests used are validated by the manufacturer, but also in the laboratory of INMES. Over thirty methods are accredited and are used in everyday work for testing safety of food, dietary products and feedd for animals.
The majority of the tests which relate to the implementation of the national monitoring plan for testing for residues of veterinary medicines, belong to ELISA methods. Thus, in our laboratories, it is possible to determine the content of natural hormones (progesterone, testosterone and 17ß estradiol in plasma of animals), but also the presence of the most important representatives of synthetic steroids (19-nortestosterone, trenbolone, boldenone, methyltestosterone, ethinyl estradiol), and other prohibited substances: stilbene ( dienestrol, hexoestrol) lactone Resorcylic acid, corticosteroids, beta agonists in the tissues and organs of reared animals, as well as in the urine, animal feed and drinking water for animals.
Large group of reliable and commercial methods are ELISA assays for determination of mycotoxins (aflatoxin B1, total aflatoxins (B1 + B2, G1 + G2), zearalenone and T2 toxin, ochratoxin A, deoxynivalenol) in food and feed and aflatoxin M1 in milk and dairy products.
Demands that the food available in the market is declared as safe from the point of present ingredients with allergenic properties, imposed the need to accredit methods in our laboratory by which it is possible to determine the gluten, soy protein and egg and milk allergens (beta-lactoglobulin and casein). In addition to these methods, ELISA test can be used to determine melamine, chloramphenicol and sulfonamides in a variety of food products and animal feed.
